Founded in 1968 by Leo J. Sullivan, III and Richard J. Smith, Noonan, Perillo & Polenzani, Ltd. is one of the pre-eminent
law firms in Lake County, IL. The firm is the oldest, continuously constituted law firm in Lake County, having maintained its
identity since the time of its inception.
Collectively, our attorneys offer in excess of 150 years combined legal experience in divergent areas of the law. The firm's practice
is concentrated in trial work, typically leading all other firms in cases actually tried to verdict in Lake County. Since its inception,
Noonan, Perillo & Polenzani, Ltd. has represented a broad cross-section of clients, including major corporations and Lake County
municipalities. The firm also has a long history of representing individuals in various types of litigation including, but not limited to,
personal injury, worker's compensation, criminal law, and all manner of civil lawsuits.
Frequently appearing before Appellate Courts over the years, members of the firm argued a case before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1976. Members
of the firm have obtained verdicts or achieved settlements on behalf of clients in millions of dollars.
Having achieved the highest rating awarded by the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell attorney directory, the firm is also well-known for its defense of
clients in civil lawsuits. Noonan, Perillo & Polenzani, Ltd. is one of the very few law firms which actively undertakes the prosecution of
plaintiff's claims and in other matters, defends claims brought by plaintiffs. This broad-based practice has historically placed the firm in the unique
position of being able to counsel its clients from various perspectives. Simply put, each client of the firm has been able, over the years, to draw upon
the varied experience of its attorneys with regard to that client's individual case. For example, a personal injury client may also have a claim involving
worker's compensation and this might well entail the active participation of two of the firm's attorneys in fully representing the client.
In its criminal practice, members of the firm have been involved in numerous complex, high-profile Lake County criminal cases.
The firm's attorneys have appeared and represented clients in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate level. Since 1992, the firm has represented
active duty service members before General Courts-Martial of the United States Navy. The firm's attorneys also occasionally serve as court appointed arbitrators in civil matters brought before the 19th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois.
